An American science fiction franchise that has been around since 1978 started as an original television series called Battlestar Galactica, which was developed by Glen A. Larson and was followed by a sequel TV series in 1980. In 2003 it was resurrected and remade into several mini-series that have been produced throughout the years up to the present.
Battlestar Galactica has expanded into various forms of entertainment such as book adaptations, comic books, novels, board games, and the ever-popular video games right along with the television productions to expand in the entertainment industry. The basis of the story for all the various forms of entertainment productions centers around the premise that a group of planets called the Twelve Colonies exist in a distant part of our galaxy and are inhabited by a human civilization. A cybernetic race of beings known as Cylons have been working to exterminate the human race, including these people who migrated from the ancestral world of Kobol and have been at war for decades with these people who now reside on what is referred to as the Twelve Colonies.
A human by the name of Baltar assists the Cylons carry out a huge attack on the Twelve Colonies. This attack demolished the twelve colonies as well as the Colonial Fleet of star ships which serve as their protection, destroying virtually their entire population. In a last ditch effort, the few remaining survivors board the scattered available spaceships that are viable to flee into outer space in an effort to escape. The Battlestar Galactica was the one remaining piece of the entire Colonial battle fleet that was not eliminated, which luckily happened to be huge battleship and spacecraft carrier similar to the aircraft carries that we are familiar with today.
As the story continues to unfold, under the leadership of Commander Adama, the massive spacecraft carrier along with the pilots who acted as Viper fighters guide the search party made up of the fugitive fleet of survivors in an attempt to find the fabled colony known as Earth, which is actually the thirteenth colony. The adventures of the Battlestar Galactica provide challenging scenarios for game playing participants who can assume the roles of many characters involved in the plots, either on the Human or Cylon side.
The challenging missions that are part of the interaction of players with their favorite characters can easily immerse them into the exciting universe of action packed tactical space combat while commandeering fighter ships. A huge variety of offensive and defensive systems are used to assist in the battle between the Humans and Cylons forces in the hunt for the legendary home of the Thirteenth Tribe of Man commonly known as Earth as it is pursued by the civilian ships.
