Mad Coaster plops you into the seat of a wildly careening roller coaster, but start playing the game itself and ten seconds later, you will know that this isn't just any theme park ride you're going into. The loop de loops are still there, together with some crazy jumps across wide gaps, but altogether, the gameplay will remind you more of Temple Run, not Roller Coaster Tycoon.
The objective in Mad Coaster will be to stay on the track for as long as you could, but in the meantime, you will have to collect coins, deal with flying birds, and leap across chasms and up and down platforms. In the meantime, the colorful environments in the background do their best to distract you while you speed through several zany zones.
Speeding through a tropical rainforest or in the Arctic while jumping from platform to platform to avoid the gaps, and doing all the stuff I mentioned above is not for the faint of heart, but it makes for a wildly entertaining game. You can even upgrade your roller coaster with insane power-ups to make your next ride even crazier than before.
With these types of games, the only goal is to get a higher score than you did before. You only stop riding if your coaster falls off the track or off a platform. Endless runner games like Mad Coaster and Temple Run enjoy a huge following of their own, and it can become addictive to go for that next high score just one more time.
The only real problem that I expect gamers to complain about later on is that Mad Coaster is much too easy to play. You actually won't have a difficult time playing the game. In just a few rounds of play, patterns will emerge and you will find yourself seeing them again and again in the different zones.
So what's the final word? Mad Coaster provides a different and amusing inclusion to the pool of games in this genre, and will be sure to offer a few hours of fun at most. However, the repetitive game elements will subsequently become a drag, especially if you are looking for more demanding games.
