How does one describe Minecraft to a confused grandparents?

By Calvin Redmond

If you find yourself in a situation where you have to explain Minecraft to a clueless mum, the best thing you can do is (quietly) emphasize the various awards it has won and downplay its renown.

Your initial response might be shock blended with confusion, but saying, Everybody plays it ! To a clueless parent will get you nowhere. Possibly, grounded if your ma and pa take everything in life too seriously. And, honestly, not everyone does play it, just the smart folk who can?t imagine life without it.

So if your dad is questioning Minecraft and arguing with you over how you use your time, tell them it got awarded the Innovation Award, Best Downloadable Game Award, and a Golden Joystick Award.

Therefore , by receiving such awards it encourages us, the players, to be imaginative and leading edge to make our own games. There's so much creative freedom in this game! But don't emphasise that too much, sometimes stuff like creative freedom? Shock folks into believing we aren't doing any instructional.

Tell them this game has sold over 20 million copies and maybe they should consider purchasing stock. The game was lucrative after only 24 hours on the market. As a gamer and a fan of being able to buy cool stuff, that absolutely inspires me to try to be cutting edge as well.

And, if that doesn't work, (sorry kid) tell your grandparents the way in which the game develops survival talents as we maintain our health through hunger and hardship. This game of survival is preparing the player for real life. This game is harder than life.

If your mom and pop are still clueless about how crucial Minecraft is to you, show them some Minecraft beginners guide and try and get them to play one game. Maybe two. After two games they can without a doubt know how amazing and life changing this game really is to each player.
