The story in Arkham City, occurs a year later after Arkham Asylum . Sharp, the warden of Arkham Asylum whom you all may know is nominated Mayor as he claimed to have stopped the Joker's scheme to take over the Asylum. Not being able to control the barbaric criminals of Asylum, he was forced to shut down the facility and convert a large area of land in the slums of Gotham into a 'Arkham City' a huge open air prison. The prisoners there were let to roam free and do as they please unless they tried to escape, with Hugo Strange being in charge to monitor the facility. Meanwhile, our all time favorite villain, Joker returns once again, trying to find the antidote to his disease.
You all may have heard of the developers talking about the new playable character, catwoman, the little thief in the batman series, whom you may have observed made captive by Two-Face in the trailer. The developers have mentioned that we will certainly enjoy playing as catwoman, with her new, high speed combat animations. But, some people still live in the fear that other characters will soon steal away batman's part in BATMAN itself. Already having thought about this, Rocksteady have made it a point, to have an option whether or not to play as catwoman. But I'd just say that there is no harm in trying her out.
Now, coming to the villains, they have not been ignored one bit either. The dialogue delivery and the selection for the voice overs seem just as much as perfect as the TV series we used to watch. Every fight includes great kicking and punching with interactive mini games. Some battles do require you to glare at like a difficult math problem, but in the end, the sigh of relief you can have after finishing that part of it is unbeatable. The game allows you to take full control of the environment. You can jump through glass windows, or cut down a chandelier.
