Why Gaming is So Popular

By Marisol Villarreal

Getting into the world of online gaming can be intimidating. When you make your grand entrance you're feeling slightly clueless, compared to everyone else, and your newb questions only seem to irritate more experienced players.

It's frustrating when you're staring at a learning curve that's a straight vertical line. You ask people to play and are met with one excuse after another. Then, when they finally agree you're dragging butt just keeping up with the pace. Oh - are you a lefty? And have you been blowing off getting that left-handed mouse? You're gonna need one - stat, but no worries about that. Keep reading to learn some outstanding tricks for max fun with online gaming.

This involves reading the forums and websites for your favorite games. Why is that a must-do action? So that you will know when new patches and fixes for the game are released and when special events happen. Much of these announcements will only be seen in applicable forums or other places.

Might be good to not be killer-competitive. There is an appreciation for humility with your playing amongst others. Don't gloat too much, if at all, if you're better at something than someone else. Don't get angry or anything like that when you lose a game. Simply congratulate the other player on a match well played. Work to get better by identifying why you lost, and then try to improve. In time people will grow to like you there, and it'll be a good thing.

Most games have a learning curve associated with them, and you should learn about your game, as well. You'll just be investing in your future fun because your ability to play it will increase, and you'll be able to play at a higher level with others. The better and more challenging games have a story to them - a background, plus they have their own worlds to learn about, etc. You'll only improve yourself in your game by studying and learning whatever content can be found. You would be surprised at the subtle nuances that exist for games. Online gaming is always changing and improving, and you cannot allow yourself to fall behind.

Above all else, do not forget to have fun. Games are meant to provide you with entertainment. These games are not a substitute for true life. If you find that you are taking the game too seriously or that you are getting too wrapped up in it, step away from the left handed mouses and keyboard and do something else for a while. Try switching games or leaving your computer all together. Your ability to have fun will have an affect on the rest of your team mates.

The whole point to online gaming is to have fun. Even the most complex game universes are supposed to be pure fun. Some people get really serious, and if you do then there are other thoughts to consider. The left-handed mouse plus keyboard shortcuts is the order of the day for those to whom it applies. You also need to be humble and willing to take advice and be a team player. It's all much more fun when there are no "people" issues.
