Keeping the 'Coolness' while Playing

By Judy Phan

Video games are not always easy. There are some of them that tend to be really difficult. However, we get easily irritated once we come across a game that is difficult to handle. In other words, a situation that is supposed to be an enjoyable activity becomes something that is annoying already. That is why to keep enjoying the game, here are some tips that can help you:

1. Praise the winner. No, it's not about kneeling in front of the other player just because he or she won the game. What this means is that it won't hurt to compliment the one who won the boxing match or the car race. By appreciating the effort of the winner, it can actually decrease the pressure and both players will still enjoy playing the game.

2. Be patient. Your gaming comrades may not be as fast, as coordinated, or as smart as you. So when you notice your regular game pace slowing down, don't criticize. You could quietly plan your next move or you could offer to help if you notice that your buddies seem lost. This will encourage cooperation and relive some of the stress involved with playing a difficult game.

3. Provide a recess. In fact, making some stretches, going to the comfort room or talking about other stuff can relieve the pressure being accumulated during the game. You have to know that a long game can really be tiresome.

4. Play a game that encourages cooperation. By doing this approach, you can make all players contribute something to accomplish the game. A player being left out will feel like an outsider if he or she can't give help to the group. Make sure that everyone can participate to make the game fun and exciting.

5. Listen to others. You may think that you know all the answers about a game or game system, but listen to what others in the group have to say. You just might learn something new.

6. Let everyone play the game. By doing this, no one would ever feel left out or become socially isolated. If the game only requires three players and there are four of you in the room, hand the other person your controller to let him or her experience the fun in playing. That way, everyone would get the chance to enjoy.

7. Minimize raised voices and curses. Before playing the game, everyone must agree that cursing or serious debates should not take place when there are problems being faced. Sometimes, fights occur just because of an insignificant argument. By being calm in the game, this kind of problem is less likely to ensue.

Now see? That's not too bad a list. All the things that we suggested are certainly "do-able" and they really do work to create a calm and enjoyable environment.
