Latest Nintendo 3DS Black Review

By Michael O'Callaghan

My son Lucas has a lot of gaming machines but you can't drag a tabletop computer around with you just to play games on, so I bought him a Nintendo 3DS Black console for his 12th birthday. When they first came out the Nintendo games console just played those brain box IQ things.

I never thought that games on such a small machine like the Nintendo could be so entertaining as I watched my son weaving his way through different levels of another game. School is full of games for the Nintendo and I can swap them anytime with the other kids when I want.

What if some bully steels the Nintendo from him and you have to buy him another, so my wife put her foot down and stopped the boy taking it. The Circle Pad up in the left hand corner of the top panel gives much more control over the figures in the game and makes it much less to think about when playing and trying not to get killed.

The graphics and sound really give the feel of real computer game play in your hands and the new 3D effect is just fantastic to look at as it gives that feel of depth to the screen that these types of hand held console gamers never had before. If you suffer with your eyes it may be a good idea to decrease the amount of 3D from the screen by sliding the bar at the side of the screen down to a lower setting.

As I'm not as good as my son at playing these games I seem to get killed far more than he does. Lucas just laughs at the way I play. It was mind boggling to be in so many different locations within the game, but my son tells me that many games are more complex and harder to play and win as time goes by.

On the lid of the Nintendo 3DS are mounted 2 3D camera's so you can take pictures in real time when your out and about. There's all ready an SD card in the Nintendo so you can store all your 3D pictures on it. I've had the 2 GB SD card in the console and never filled it up completely.

Combining your photo's with sound on the SD card is a great way to present the media through the Nintendo via a gallery. You can also update your Nintendo while your on the move via the built in Wi-Fi which will let's you connect to those Hot Spot's you get at coffee bars or hotels around town.

Swapping data between your's and some one else's machine is now possible via a new app introduced by Nintendo called Spot Pass which lets you to connect even if both machines are in sleep mode.

To stop all the argument's in our house I've bought my own Nintendo and a copy of Resident Evil so I can play with this fantastic little machine when ever I want. You'd think that getting out my Nintendo console on the train would be a bit childish, but it just started a new craze as everybody ask's me about different games and how to play them, its great.
