Why Are Controller Mods So Popular?

By Carlos Reyes

It's not common for Microsoft to deny third parties the right to make controllers for their console, usually gaming companies like Nintendo and Sony allow companies to make controllers. Perhaps it's their wireless technology, but Microsoft does not. For a company that deals in mods, like ourselves, it doesn't bother us, it probably helps, but for your average joe, it's sad to see consumer options so limited.

There could be a number of reasons for this. Perhaps they don't want anyone with rapid fire buttons for a balanced online experience. Whatever the reason, third party controllers simply aren't allowed.

We'll that's why modded controllers are such a thriving market on the 360 right now. Everyone wants them and they can give you a number of cool features. From rapid fire to increase your firing power, to a jitter mod to turn burst weapons into semi-automatics, modded controllers have a range of functions. One of our favorite functions on a modded controller is a simple stealth mod. A mod that you can turn on or off that doesn't look any different then a brand new controller. It's fun to beat your opponent and leave them speechless.

You can grab mods that just changes the way the controller looks. There are great mods to show off to friends. Have a cool mod with custom built LEDs behind the face buttons to light up your room while gaming at night. It's not difficult to find long lasting value in controller mods. Great for show and great for gaming.

XCM controllers include larger d-pads that help with gaming accuracy, so not all mods are just game play enhancing. A more accurate controller is fun regardless of the game that your playing.

Don't feel bad about getting a modded controller, give them another shot. You'll be surprised with how fun they are to use and how they really do improve your overall gaming experience
