How To Play Blackjack The Smart Way

By Joe Manonn

There is something glamorous about playing table games. It may seem like luck but there is strategy involved. How to play blackjack is something that can be learned and knowing the right way to play.

The simple things are important to be aware of. Remember that the number cards are worth the amount on the card from 2 to 10. The face cards are worth 10 and the ace is worth either one or eleven depending on the nature of the hand. The aim is to get 21. Any more than this is what is known as bust and you lose the bet.

The reason this is important to remember as this is what you need to pay attention. You are playing against the dealer and they are the people you have to beat. It is also important to be aware of the terminology used as you do not want to make a mistake and end up doing something you will regret when placing a bet.

Generally they will use the term stand for when you do not want any more cards, although the term stick is often used as well. Hit or twist is what you say if you want additional cards to the two you are initially dealt. It is generally advised to hit if the amount in your hand is below 12 and to stand if your hand is above 16.

If the hand is between 12 and 16 you should hit if the dealer has a hand with a 7 or an ace in it. You should stand if the dealer has cards below 7. As well as the game strategy you also need to consider your betting strategy.

For example if you feel confident in your bet you could double the bet. That way if you win the bet you double your money. Unfortunately if you lose then you could also lose double the bet, so think carefully before doing that. Conversely if you do not feel confident you can surrender your bet so that you only lose half your bet.

How to play blackjack depends on a shrewd reading of the game. It is a balance between taking risks and knowing when to quit. It is worth looking online to find strategy guides and demonstration videos for more information.
