Nothing can be more fun, or more challenging than playing a mage in World of Warcraft. Starting out as virtual weaklings, they can easily become one of the more powerful character classes in the game. Following is a mage leveling guide for those who are up to the challenge.
To level up easily always choose wide open spaces to fight in and cast your spells. This is because this character class is not much of a tank and needs to run around out of harms way. Should you be in a dungeon it will be much more difficult to stay alive and may require a group to level up.
To kill monsters on your own as a mage is fairly quite simple, using mostly missile spells. Usually you can begin your attack by using frost bolt on a monster you wish to kill. The frost bolt will slow it down and while it is slowed down follow through quickly by casting a fireball. If it is still coming at you, step back a few steps and cast the combination again and keep doing so until it stops moving, that is, it is dead.
Keep an eye on your mana levels for this is your main requirement for spells. All throughout your leveling do practice spamming missile skills using Frost bolt, fireball, and Arcane missiles. Keep practicing this method of spam attack all the way to level 25.
You will need some friends once you reach level 25 so as to level up faster in the dungeons. Make friends with players who make able tanks like warrior type characters and you can be in charge of the damage dealing. Use AOE spells for really increased earnings in experience.
Doing AOE type damage relies heavily on the Frost spells. Pull in a mob with Improved Blizzard and once they get close use Frost Nova. Back up a bit and then use Improved Blizzard again.
